Today was the day that I had anticipated for very long time, finally, had an interesting and fantastic outing with my Ex -GSK colleagues. A great thanks to the great organiser, Caroline, for making it possible... Around 12 of us turned up for this dinner at Holland Village, Suki Tei. Luckily we were early, not much people yet, so managed to find seats for the 12 of us, quite a big gang. We were given seats upstairs, got to take off our shoes but luckily don't need to sit like japanese style, the ambience was quite nice and smoothing...We really had a great appetite, each of us ordered a main course and quite lots of side dishes and shared here and there. Didn't take much pictures of the food except for one food which is the pork cutlet ( Fried Katsu): Check it out... I am fascinated by the sauce beside it which looked like... find it out yourself...
A closer view of the sauce beside it...
I ate quite a lot of stuffs there. Me and serene shared a bowl of Nabeyaki Udon, which was our main course. Then we also shared soft shell crab, Unagi roll... Then Serene told us that someone told her that eating soft shell crab will become dumb one , but I think no logic one... so weird, but serene after eating the soft shell crab, her reaction was " if just now that was true, she says that it is worthwhile to become dumb after eating such delicious soft shell crab." In addition, I also ate 1 plate of sushi maki and 1 small cup of watermelon sherbet (which is actually watermelon ice-cream quite refreshing and not too sweet). Moreover, we also have free flow of green tea to digest our food...Here are some of the pictures:
She is Caroline, our organiser, an attachment student from NUS chemical Engineering, attached under different department as us. However, we got to know each other through Serene as they came into GSK together but attached under different departments. I find that she is a very hao xue person, who always want to learn new stuff and dher English is quite pro also, can be my english teacher... Glad to have know you and also thanks for helping me to edit my essay for the NUS application.
She is Kang min, who is also an attached student form NUS applied chemistry and attached under the same department as us. I find that she could be very quiet and noisy at times, but her news is always the hottest, she don't know get from what source one, her news always the newest and hottest... haha... She is also very nice girl who would help me when I am in trouble.
She is Yumei, the cutest lao ren that I have even seen, looked like secondary school kid but already in early twenties already. (Can't tell from her looks, right?) She is also from NUS chemical engineering, she is from the same batch as Lee ping and Peifen. She can be a very good lecturer as she had impacted quite a lot of engineering knowledge to me. Thanks so much for keeping me accompany during my whole attachment in GSK.
She is Peifen, who is also an attchment student from NUS chemcial engineering, came in together with Yumei and Lee Ping. She is very outspoken girl who can be crazy at some times especially after she drank some alcohol. That explains her nick to be "jiu gui." I remember she was the first to approach me and talked to me, that time I find her very friendly but as you know longer, she will find that she can be real crazy and funny...
She is Lee Ping, who is also an attachment student from NUS chemical Engineering, attached to the same department as me and also under the same supervisor. So coincidence... My first impression of her was quite strict but she told me that time when I was first introduced to her, she was very stressed that is why she looked so strict. But actually, she is very good and helpful. Without her, I don't think I can survive... haha... As I was super afraid of one person in my team but it is her who always showered me with encouragements and always deside me helping me... Thanks so much gal...
She is Serene, who is also an attachment student from NUS, Chemical Engineering, who came after Lee Ping left. She saved me from my boredom... I find that she looked timid from appearance but she is actually quite bold one. She even dared to "suan" back the person who I am most afraid of. However, she is quite short term memory and she can even be given the title of 'Short Term Memory Queen.' Oops, but she too have an unique taste to like George Clooney. But she and I eyed at the same guy in the company too, quite handsome looking but quite cool...
She is Pei Ru who is a lab technician in GSK, same department as me. She use to used to sit beside me and would always offer me sweets to eat. She is a nice and sweet lady who took care of me very well when I was at GSK. Thank you so much...
She is Yumin who is also a lab technician in GSK, same department as me. I still remembered how she described our shuttle bus and the bus uncle to me, so detailed: " A bus with a green lines then in the middle got 2 orange lettered words." She was my good bus companion who always liked to disturb me and she singed quite well too, went with party world once with her. She is a very friendly and approachable girl, who can be quite talkative at times but she can be a good listener too... After our dinner, some of us went to Eski Bar to have a drink. At first, I wanted so much to go there and have a look as heard from my friends that it was colder than outside, and even have a below 0 degree celcius room, sounded interesting. However, when I went there, I really disliked that they allowed smoking inside, as after that my clothes and bags were have the smell of smoke. Hm... but the photos I haven't received yet, so have to wait... I shall update asap.During my days at GSK, I am very fortunate to know a bunch of good friends who were 2 batches of students from NUS; lab technicians at GSK, Chemical Engineer and chemists at GSK. It had really widened my friends cycle. Below is a little playback on the days at GSK...Lee Ping's Birthday:
We celebrated lee ping's birthday at the our pantry, still remembered that vending machine which we don't have to put money inside, it is free one... So can have free flow of drinks... In the photo, there are 2 unfamiliar faces who are Haozhen and Pei xin sitting beside Lee Ping. They were also lab technicians from GSK but they went to overseas for further studies already...
Candid Shot!!!
There were also a bunch of guys who celebrated for Lee ping's birthday. From left to right (Ross, Lee Ping, Patrick, Venu, Chong Meng and Wilvan). Venu is my supervisor, a chemical engineer, during my attachment period, he is really a super nice guy, very thoughtful and helpful. He really taught me a lot of stuff during my attachment period as well as took very good care of me and Lee ping... Chong Meng who was a chemical engineer, he also had taught me a lot of stuff during my attachment period. And also thanks for his treat. Wilvan was a statistician who had helped in my project quite a bit.
The Birthday gal cutting her birthday cake... Second outing was with Yumei, Lee Ping and Peifen to Queenway to have BBQ stingray... We went to the coffee shops opposite Alexandra hospital to have that, reccomended by Peifen and Yumei... Didn't really take any shots of the food but in the end we took pictures at the Mac in Queenway shopping mall. Thanks to the photographer, Miss Peifen for having 4 unsucessful shots:

Then the following picture was the best shot of me and Lee ping... We gave Venu this picture so that he can always remember us...
Lastly, it is our group photo that marked the end of our outing...
